LOUISE E. PAGEL
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home Chapel in Eveleth. Rev. Joel Rova-Hegener will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services. Honorary casket bearers will be Nels Nordquist, Roger Nordquist, Eric Eckstrom, James Pagel and Ronald Pagel. Interment will be in Eveleth Cemetery.
Louise E. Pagel, 91, of Eveleth, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at St. Raphael’s Health & Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth.
Louise was born on October 15, 1918 in Chaseley, North Dakota to Gustav and Elizabeth (Huffman) Reutter. She moved with her parents to Twin Valley and was married to George H. Pagel of Ada, MN. on March 31, 1940, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Green Meadow Twp., MN. They lived near Gary, MN. until 1956 and then moved to the Iron Range having lived in Hibbing and Cherry before settling in Eveleth. Louise worked at a café in Hibbing and for Cluett-Peabody Shirt Factory in Eveleth as a seamstress. George and Louise also did custodial work at the former Norwest Bank in Eveleth for a couple of years. Louise enjoyed cooking and was known for her good potato salad and pies. She also enjoyed crocheting, picking blue berries, tending to her flower gardens and making colored flowers from Kleenex. Louise was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church. Family was important to Louise, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia (Nels) Nordquist of Virginia; granddaughter, Donna (Eric) Eckstrom of Virginia; grandson, Roger Nordquist of Seattle, Washington and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1994; an infant son in 1941; brothers, Glen, Merl, Lyle and Virgil; sisters, Ruby and Vera; her mother, Elizabeth and father and step-mother, Gustav and Leah (Whiskers) Reutter.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Raphael’s Health & Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care that was given to their “Weezie”.
